Meet the Supervisors: The Cats Behind Hook, Line, & Whiskers

Meet the Supervisors: The Cats Behind Hook, Line, & Whiskers

Every good craft space needs quality control, and mine has four of the best — meet the cats who oversee (and occasionally sabotage) every project at Hook, Line, & Whiskers.

Daffodil 🌼 Born January 15, 2021

Daffodil is my sunshine girl, and she lives up to her name — you'll almost always find her stretched out in a sunny spot, soaking up every ray she can. She's a lover through and through: head scratches, belly rubs, bedtime snuggles, the works. She also loves to join me outside, which makes her my official garden and porch assistant. Gustafer is lucky she's so gracious about sharing the space.

My favorite Daffodil quirk? If she hasn't seen you in a while, she'll cry out for you and wait for you to call back so she can track you down. She just wants to know where you are.

Delilah 🌸 Born March 26, 2020

Delilah is my eldest and my most dignified — at least, that's the image she maintains during daylight hours. By day she's mild-mannered and refined, a quiet girl who takes her time warming up. Once she decides you're worth it, she becomes a vocal, leg-rubbing, lap-claiming presence who will sit on you when it is convenient for her and not a moment before.

What she doesn't want you to know is that at night, when she thinks no one is watching, she gets the absolute zoomies and turns into a completely different cat. And if your yarn stash goes missing? Delilah. It's always Delilah. She is the number one yarn thief in this household and she has no remorse.

Dahlia & Nikola (Pickles) 🌺 Dahlia: Born January 1, 2021 | Nikola: Born August 21, 2021

These two are a package deal — mother and daughter, inseparable since Nikola was just a few weeks old. Their litter was named after the Jonas Brothers: Joe, Kevin, Frankie, and Nicki. The other three found homes, but Nicki stayed. Nicki became Nickles, Nickles became Nickle Pickle, Nickle Pickle became Pickles — and Nikola is just her government name.

Pickles is the adventurous one. She'll greet visitors with a dramatic full-body stretch like she's putting on a show, and she takes her role as chief bug hunter very seriously.

Dahlia, meanwhile, is a shy girl who will vanish the moment a stranger walks in — but she's an exceptional mouser and a deeply devoted mama. Despite not being attached at the hip, you'll regularly find these two grooming each other, roughhousing, or completely tangled up in a nap together.

These four keep me company through every project, every late-night yarn winding session, and every "just one more row" at midnight. They are chaotic, cuddly, and completely in charge.

Stick around — they'll be making regular appearances here at Hook, Line, & Whiskers. 🐾🧢

Crochet Porch Goose Easter Dress and Bunny Ears

Gustafer's Easter Dress & Bunny Ears A Free Crochet Pattern for Porch Goose Statues     Link to PDF Download I had to jump on the viral porch goose trend — and honestly, the moment I got my goose (meet Gustafer!), I knew I couldn't just leave him standing there undressed. With spring around the corner and Easter on my mind, I set out to make him the most festive goose on the block. The result? A pastel hdc dress with a ruffled hem and a matching set of bunny ears. He is absolutely precious!   This pattern is sized for a standard porch goose statue approximately 23" tall with a 7" neck circumference and 24" belly circumference. The dress is worked in joined rounds from the neck down, so it slips easily over your goose's head and drapes over his body. Update 3/28/26: Thank you all for your support! I've updated the bunny ears for an accounting mistake, as the stitch counts were off. After reviewing the pattern, I found that Rows 2–5 did not hav...

Hooks, Diamonds, & a Whole Lot of Crafting: How I Got Here

The Origin Story My appreciation for art started in 4th grade when I joined art club at school and never really looked back. By high school I was rearranging my entire schedule to make it work — taking summer school so I could fit in two full years of art AND two years of Spanish without sacrificing either. My grandma had already gotten me hooked on crochet by then, so between art club, Saturday lessons, and a packed high school schedule, making things has always just been part of how I operate.                                             Those art classes built a foundation that still shows up in everything I make — color, composition, and detail that carries over whether I'm picking yarn for a new pattern or placing the last diamond on a canvas at midnight. What I Make Crochet is the constant. It's where this blog started and where most of my patterns will live. Beginner-f...
