Kitty Kicker
A Free Crochet Pattern for Cat Toys
As featured in my cat related projects post, this quick, beginner-friendly pattern makes a stuffed kicker toy your cat can wrestle, bunny kick, and carry around to their heart's content. Kitty approved by Delilah! 🐱🎀Pattern Notes
Materials:
- H (5.0 mm) hook
- Worsted weight yarn
- Polyfill or plastic grocery bags for stuffing (grocery bags add a satisfying crinkle!)
- Scissors
- Optional: catnip
Notes:
- Ch 2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
- Chains and rows can be adjusted for your desired length.
- Folded, the kicker measures approximately 7.5" x 3.75".
Body
Ch 21.
Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc across. Ch 2, turn. (20)
Rows 2–15: Hdc across. Ch 2, turn. (20)
Row 16: Hdc across. Ch 1. Do not finish off. (20)
Seaming
Fold the work in half lengthwise.
Working through both layers, sc across the long edge. 2 sc in the corner stitch.
Sc across the remaining long edge. Finish off.
Alternatively, finish off after Row 16 and sew the long edges together with a yarn needle.
Stuffing
Turn inside out and stuff with your chosen filling. Add catnip if desired.
Finishing & Tail
Sc across the open end. Ch 1, turn.
Work sc halfway across the row. Ch 16, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc back to the base of the tail. Sl st the tail to the base, then continue working sc to the end of the row. Finish off and weave in ends.
