Gustafer's Easter Dress & Bunny Ears
A Free Crochet Pattern for Porch Goose Statues
I had to jump on the viral porch goose trend — and honestly, the moment I got my goose (meet Gustafer!), I knew I couldn't just leave him standing there undressed. With spring around the corner and Easter on my mind, I set out to make him the most festive goose on the block. The result? A pastel hdc dress with a ruffled hem and a matching set of bunny ears. He is absolutely precious!
This pattern is sized for a standard porch goose statue approximately 23" tall with a 7" neck circumference and 24" belly circumference. The dress is worked in joined rounds from the neck down, so it slips easily over your goose's head and drapes over his body.
Update 3/28/26: Thank you all for your support! I've updated the bunny ears for an accounting mistake, as the stitch counts were off. After reviewing the pattern, I found that Rows 2–5 did not have enough stitches written to account for the full round of the oval. Please see the updated pattern below.

Pattern Notes
• This pattern is worked in joined rounds (not turned). You may work continuously if you prefer — stitch counts remain the same.
• Ch 1 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a stitch.
• Inc = 2 hdc in one stitch.
• The ruffle edging is optional — finish with any edging you like, or simply sl st to close.
• To adjust neck size, increase or decrease your starting chain in increments of 6.

Make 2. The ear is worked into both sides of the starting chain and worked in rounds. Do not turn after joining.
With pink yarn, ch 10.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc across. Rotate work so the unworked side of the chain is on top. Sc across the other side of the chain. (18)
Row 2: Join white yarn, ch 1, sc in the next 8 sts, 2 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 8 sts, sl st to the first st. (20)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in the next 9 sts, 2 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 9 sts, sk the sl st, sl st to the first sc. (22)
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in the next 10 sts, 2 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 10 sts, sk the sl st, sl st to the first sc. (24)
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in the next 11 sts, 2 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 11 sts, sk the sl st, sl st to the first sc. (26) Finish off, leaving a tail.
Joining the Ears
With white yarn, sc across the bottom of both ears. Ch 1, turn.
Next row: Sc across. Finish off.
Using a tapestry needle, sew the gap between the ears closed (approximately 2 sts) to help the ears stand upright.
Chin Ties
At each end of the joining row, attach yarn and ch 25. Finish off and weave in ends. Tie under your goose's chin to secure.
Happy crocheting, and Happy Easter from Gustafer! 🐣
